Platonic Diagrams of the Social Structure of Civilisation in Antiquity.

Commentary on the Diagrams relating to Mass Changes of the Social Structure.

800 to 55 BCE - Greek Empire

The civilisation of antiquity is portrayed by Plato in his works on The Republic where he categorises the nation in a generalist's perspective into four major classes: Firstly the Army or Warrior Class. Secondly the Producer and Consumer Class. Thirdly the Guardian Class. Fourthly the Ruler and Ruling Class is portrayed at the center of these three networks of classes.

The Great Law Codes of the Hellenic civilisation are to be found at Gortyn in southern Crete.

Perhaps the most exemplary period for this civilisation followed the expansion of the Greek empire into Egypt, Persia and the borders of India by Alexander in the late third century BCE. This Hellenistic Class structure was retained across a broad sweep of antiquity.

55 BCE to 295 CE - Roman Empire

The success of the Romans was its military machine. After toppling the Greek army, the Roman army dominated the scene for almost 500 years. The Romans demanded tribute of their conquest by war of the empire, and they took it in many forms. Millions were killed and millions were taken into slavery by the Roman army and its emperors, since to the Romans, everyone else were barbarians.

There were Greek "barbarians" (Archimedes speared by a Roman soldier) Irish Celtic "barbarians", British Celtic "barbarians" (centralised Druidic priesthood), Scotish Celtic "barbarians", Gallic Celtic "barbarians", Germanic Celtic "barbarians", Dacian Celtic "barbarians", Jewish and Hebrew "barbarians", Parthian/Persian "barbarians", Goths, Visigoths and Astrogoth "barbarians", The Vandals, etc "barbarians". and the mysterious Huns. All who were non-Roman, were "barbarians" !!.

Technology and science of the ancient world was plundered for power and tribute. To cut a long story short, the two authors of the book "Barbarians" - Terry Jones & Alan Ereira present a thesis...

"The thesis is that we've all been told a false history of Rome
that has twisted our entire understanding of our own history -
glorifying (and glossing over) a long era of ruthless imperial power ..."

222 CE - Sassanid Persian Empire

Ardashir creates Zoroastrianism (c.224 CE)

In the third century the Persian "King of Kings" Ardashir created a new State monotheistic religion which he actively promoted, organized, supported and protected, by legislation. He guaranteed its orthodoxy by the sword. It was characterised by a strong centralised power structure, centered on the King and his appointed Magi (ie: academic temple priests, and their chiefs).

A gifted researcher and high cleric of this religion in the tradition named Tansar was ordered to gather the scattered "Avesta" of the Mazdeans from ancient sources, and to edit these in order to reproduce an authorised and canonical version of the "Avesta", the holy writ of Zoroastrianism. Finally the Sassanid state monotheistic church was characterised by widespread architectural replication of square fire-temples for the official religion throughout the major cities and provinces of the Sassanid Persian empire. This was a novel step.

Epigraphic and monumental evidence suggests the pre- existence of the earlier religion of the Mazdeans in the epoch of the Parthian civilisation.

Cambridge Ancient History, Volume XII, The Imperial Crisis and Recovery (193 to 324 CE), Chapter 5: SASSANID PERSIA, The Sassanian Empire: Political History

"According to the Zoroastrian tradition Ardashir I caused a high cleric official Tansar, his chief helper in the task of organising the Mazdean church, to have the scattered texts of the Parthian "Avesta" collected and to produce a new edition of it which was authorised and made canonical."

295 to 312 CE - Roman Empire
with Diocletian Reforms

Major changes to the centralisation of command of the entire Roman Empire under the establishment of a political tetrarchy by the emperor Diocletian. The stability of the entire empire was thus set upon a foundation of the tetrarchy - a greek term meaning ... "the leadership of four people.

The Centralised Political State

Diocletian divided the vast Empire into four quarters, originally each under a co-emperor ('Tetrarch') but these soon were abolished under their former chiefs of staff, styled praetorian prefects, who had authority over the next, also new administrative level: twelve dioceses. The largest, Oriens, included sixteen provinces, and the smallest, Britannia, comprised only four provinces. Each of these twelve diocese of the Empire was governed by a vicarius. The Vicarius was in theory the local representative of the Tetrarchy.

These twelve diocese and the twelve Vicarii of the Roman empire who reported to the leadership of four people that were established under Diocletian were about to be radically altered with the appearance of Constantine. Diocletian, who had ruled for 29 years decided in 305 CE to retire to the peaceful life in order to grow cabbages.

"If you could show the cabbage that I planted with my own hands to your emperor, he definitely wouldn’t dare suggest that I replace the peace and happiness of this place with the storms of a never-satisfied greed."

Perhaps this decision was somehow influenced by the rise of Constantine in that same year, in the remote north west? The death of Diocletian is not well attested, but also appears to coincide with the arrival of Constantine in Rome.

312 to 324 CE - Roman Empire
with Major Constantinian Reforms

Arnaldo Momigliano (1908-1987) foremost of 20th century ancient historians writes that ....

On 28 October 312 the Christians suddenly and unexpectedly found themselves victorious. The victory was a miracle - though opinions differed as to the nature of the sign vouchsafed to Constantine. The winners became conscious of their victory in a mood of resentment and vengeance. A voice shrill with implacable hatred announced to the world the victory of the Milvian Bridge: Lactatius' De mortibus persecutorum. ......[....].... The revolution of the fourth century, carrying with it a new historiography will not be understood if we underrate the determination, almost the fierceness, with which the Christians appreciated and exploited "the miracle" that had transformed Constantine into a supporter, a protector, and later a legislator of the Christian church.

Fascist Destruction of Temples; Execution of Priests

When Constantine became the supreme ruler of the Roman empire c.324 CE his revolution included the commencement of the utter destruction of the architecture of the old guardian class - that is, the networks of a myriad of diverse temples and shrines to the ancient Hellenistic divinities. It included the most ancient and highly reverred temples, gymnasia, libraries and shrines of the previously imperial sponsored Graeco-Roman Healing God Asclepius. By tradition, Asclepius was the son of Apollo, who was the son of Zeus. The destruction of the temples was accompanied by Constantine's Prohibition of Temple Services, and both of these "reforms" were conducted using the might of Constantine's Barbarian army who had no alliegance to the Greeks. These actions were accompanied by the public execution of priests associated with the diverse temple networks, and at Antioch by torture of leading citizens.

325 CE onwards - Roman Empire
with General Constantinian Reforms

At the council of Nicaea Constantine brought the Hellenistic civilisation to its knees. The Guardian class of Plato was effectively severed by the sword from civilisation.

A new guardian class was then personally appointed by Constantine, bishop by bishop. The old architecture of the old Guardian class was destroyed to its foundations temple by temple. The new architecture of the new Guardian class was constructed over the old foundations, basilica by basilica. The old records associated with the old guardian class were denigrated and ordered destroyed. The new records associated with the new guardian class were exalted and lavishly published using the highest technological services available - aside from the Roman army - that of the codex.

The Theodosian Codex provides history with the law (16.5.1) enacted 326 CE decreeing:

"Religious Privileges are reserved for Christians" [alone]

In a parallel fashion to Ardashir, Constantine bases his monotheistic religion on the "Holy Writ" of the New Testament literature, which he lavishly publishes in the Greek language for the benefit and edification of the Alexandrian Greek populace and the empire. He orders for the destruction of the writings of any opposition, and for the immediate execution by the sword of any citizens preserving illegal literature via actions of either the hiding or secreting of scrolls or codices. Imperial extortion was increased by the implementation of empire wide Chrysargyron (Poll-Tax). The Greek civilisation had experienced a peak of revival as early as Marcus Aurelius (c.160 CE) and as perhaps late as Diocletian (305 CE). It was known as the Second Sophistic. But Constantine physically severed the wisdom of the Second Sophistic from his new empire, and fashioned by Codex what was to become the Third Sophistic - The New Testament.

Dialogue between the New and Old Guardian Classes at the BOUNDARY EVDENT of Nicaea
The Old Guardian Class used the Second Sophistic
The New Guardian Class used the Third Sophistic.

The new voice of the Third Sophistic was Christian. The old voice of the Second Sophistic was Greek.

The sponsored new voice was characteristically Eusebian with Constantinian overtones

      Translated by F.C. Conybeare (1912).

So then, my dear friend, you find worthy of no little admiration the parallel which, embellished with many marvels, this author has drawn between the man of Tyana arid our own Saviour and teacher.

The prohibited old voice was characteristically Arian with Porphyrian overtones.

Aphorisms of Arius as preserved by Socrates Scholasticus:

There was time when Jesus Christ was not.
Before Jesus Christ was born Jesus Christ was not.
Jesus Christ was made out of nothing existing.
Jesus Christ is and/or was from another subsistence and/or substance.
Jesus Christ is subject to alteration and/or change.

The new voice declared that Jesus Christ and God had exactly the same essence. The old voice warned that Jesus Christ and God had only a similar essence.
The new wisdom of the Third Sophistic was purely Christian. The Christian voice spoke to the Gentiles about Christian things. The new voice reflected the official centralised monotheistic authority. The new voice operated with intollerance and fascism. The old wisdom of the Second Sophistic was not Christian but Gnostic - Platonic, Pythagorean, Asclepian, Apollonian, Hermetic, Sethian, even Buddhist, Hindu, Persian, Egyptian, Hebrew, and after mid-third century, Manichaean. None of it was Christian. The old voice reflected a milieu and vast melting pot of Graeco-Roman cults. The old voice operated collaboratively and collegiately.
The authenticity of the history - researched by Eusebius, via Pamphilus - of the Third Sophistic was based on the lineage of the Academy of the Apostles The authenticity of the history - researched by Iamblichus, via Porphyry - of the Second Sophistic was based on the lineage of the Academy of Plato
The lineage claimed by Eusebius is via Pamphilus, Origen and Ammonias Saccas to the elders. The lineage claimed by Iamblichus is via Porphyry, Plotinus, Ammonias Saccas to the elders.
Ammonias Saccas was a Christian progenitor !. Ammonias Saccas was a Platonic progenitor !.
The Christian Ammonias Saccas is a Eusebian fabrication The Platonic Ammonias Saccas has far greater historicity

Constantine had appointed a new Christian Guardian Class
The Legend of the 318 Fathers ruled the Fourth Century.

The new voice eventually resorted to imperial censorship.

But none as went far as Julian, who damaged the prestige of the Empire by refusing to recognize Christ, dispenser of royalty and power. He composed three books against the holy gospels and against the very pure Christian religion, he used them to shake many spirits and to cause them uncommon wrongs.

-- "Against Julian", Bishop Cyril of Alexandria, c.425 CE

The old voice was eventually able to settle the account in writing:

It is, I think, expedient to set forth to all mankind the reasons by which I was convinced that the fabrication of the Galilaeans is a fiction of men composed by wickedness.

Though it has in it nothing divine, by making full use of that part of the soul which loves fable and is childish and foolish, it has induced men to believe that the monstrous tale is truth.

--- "Against the Christians", Emperor Julian, c.362 CE

The Christians' New Records were preserved by a new Guardian Class in the City of Constantine. The Gnostics' Old Records were burnt by the new Guardian Class as was their library in the City of Alexander
